Marking 500 years since Guam’s encounter with the Magellan-Elcano circumnavigation, Valley of the Latte on February 28th, 2021 welcomed the Spanish Navy ship the Juan Sebastian De Elcano and her sailors to the historic Valley of the Latte Park in Talofofo Bay. Our team got the special opportunity to share with our visitors our Chamorro culture, and as well highlighted the many impacts Spanish culture has had on our island including the import of the Karabao, and Binadu to the island. Valley of the Latte is honored to have been a part of this momentous occasion, and would like to invite everyone to enjoy Chamorro culture and history here in the Valley of the Latte.
The Valley of the Latte team would like to extend a special thank you to Rear Admiral Santiago Barber Lopez, Captain Carlos Mate Roman, and Dr. Maria Saavedra Inaraja for making us a part of their historic visit to Guam. As well we would like to thank the Speaker of the Guam Legislature the Honorable Therese Terlaje, the Honorable Senator Frank Blas Jr., the Honorable Mayor Vicente Taitague of Talofofo, and the Honorable Mayor Tony Chargualaf of Inarajan for joining us to share our beautiful Chamorro culture with our guests.
