Members of the community and press are invited to the unveiling of an amazing art piece depicting life in the villages of Talo’fo’fo
and Inarajan scheduled for Friday, June 29, 2018 10:00 am at the Valley of the Latte Visitor Center. The unveiling is part of the
celebration of activities surrounding Dinanna Pa’a.

“I Estorian Talo’fo’fo yan Inalahan” by Dawn Reyes is a project supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the
Arts, Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency (CAHA), a division of the Department of Chamorro Affairs Government of
Guam, and the office of the Governor.

The three-part art installation was designed to enhance the cultural experience and understanding of ancient Chamorro history
specific to the Talofofo site of what is now the Valley of the Latte Adventure Park. The artist, Dawn Reyes, will unveil the following
three exhibits collectively entitled “I Estorian Talo’fo’fo yan Inalahan”

“Our Knowledge” (I Tiningo’-ta) honors the tradition of astral navigation and the voyagers who braved the open sea and traveled across the unknown to discover what is now the Mariana Islands. Establishing trade with Micronesia, voyagers are responsible forthe Valley of the Latte’s rich history.

“Our Beliefs” (I Hinengge-ta) invites the viewer to meditate on the foundation of Chamorro culture “Inafa’maolek” (Community) especially as it relates to our relationship with the land and sea. Ancient Chamorro society thrived as one community sharing in the wealth of the land and sea.

“Our Village” (I Sengsong-ta) is presented in a set of 16 small paintings that are grouped to create one art work. Each painting
represents facets of life and work that contribute to a thriving and harmonious Chamorro village.
